DEPRESSION IS REAL
More people are depressed than statistics show. And the government cannot accurately show the percent increase every year sheerly due to people not realizing they have a problem. Depression is one of those diseases that creeps up on us. We take the symptoms for granted because it is more often caused by factors that we cannot see or touch. We use the more obvious issues to blame depression on. Death of a friend, family member or pet, loss of job, divorce and major change or stress top the charts for reasons. The problem is that many of us are in a constant state of these types of occurrences, especially the older we get. It’s the unseen causes of depression that are the most dangerous. At least with life events that cause depression, we are aware of what they are, we can grieve and get past them. The unseen causes are more deadly. Intestinal yeast infections, deficiencies of magnesium and other key vitamins induced by excessive soda, coffee and snack consumption, lack of sleep, environmental toxins (plastics, car exhaust) can all have depression catching us unaware. Most folks, once they realize they are depressed, approach psychologists, psychiatrists or therapists. When those sessions fail, and the meds start getting prescribed, the depression gets worse.
